32nd day - shopping shopping shopping

Today was the last weekday before I leave Japan and I had to complete my shopping and also get stuff for everyone. So this is the route that I took today:

Home -> Harajuku -> Shinjuku -> Shibuya -> Home -> Kawasaki -> Home

So let me explain to you what I did… First I left home and went to Harajuku first to pick up a few things like T-shirts for my friends at the UT shop and phone straps on the street. Then I was hungry by the time I was done so I went to have lunch at the Wolfgang Puck Express. The lunch menu was simple so I ordered the lunch special:
As usual – Iced Lemon Tea
Salad
Ham and Tomato Penny Pasta
Then I left Harajuku and went to Isetan in Shinjuku to buy a bunch of snacks and cookies. While I was at the Morozoff counter, I bought 2 little cups of Japanese egg custard. Then I went to back to Royce in Shibuya to get a few more items. While I was there, I remembered the 1st day of the event, there were many people standing in line at this stand so today since there wasn’t much of one, I went over to get some. It turned out to be very similar to the Japanese egg custard that I got from Morozoff at Isetan in Shinjuku but I think they made it with fresh milk and they only have a limited supply of 1,000 bottles a day. No wonder there was such a long line. It was also packaged nicely in a milk-bottle shaped container.
…and added it to my collection of “Results of shopping”.
At night we went over to the Lazona Plaza at Kawasaki again so I could buy my little toy car solar turntable. For dinner, it took us a long time again to decide what we wanted, and we finally settled on this all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant. For 2,480 yen, you have 2 hours time and you get unlimited food and drinks (excluding alcoholic beverages) which wasn’t a bad deal. The coolest part was that the plate you use to get your food has 9 little sections, so you can get 9 types of different food and not have them all mixed up when your plate is full. They do serve quite a few traditional Japanese items including desert, along with westernized items. They had things like pizza, fish & chips, ground beef steak, fried chicken, Japanese fish cake in soup, Japanese flavored spaghetti, potato salad, spring rolls, fried rice, mushrooms, Japanese jelly and Japanese yogurt just to name a few. Overall the food was very good and interesting. Nicest part again is the plate. Excellent idea.

29th day - sleepy day

This morning (actually late afternoon as I was trying to catch up on my internet usage and blog as the Internet has been weird the past couple days) I went back to the Uniqlo store in Kawasaki to pick up my pants since I forgot my receipt yesterday, then went back home.
My friend wasn’t feeling too well, so I just picked up some take out from Sukiya.

I had Kimchee beef bowl
while my friend had a regular beef bowl
and I also got some other stuff like Fried Shrimp Cutlet
and Fried Shrimp Cake Cutlet
Chinese-Style Jellyfish
And my favorite Edamame for 100 yen!!!
As of right now, this is the “Result of Shopping”!!!

28th day - all-you-can-eat day!

In the morning, we went to the restaurant at the Nikko Hotel in Kawasaki to have this all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. My friend saw it a while ago but never had a chance to go. It was only 2000 yen per person. The place was pretty nice and the food looked pretty good. It was a combination of Western, Chinese and Japanese food. Though there wasn’t a huge selection, the food was actually pretty decent. I did have 2 dishes of food. Notice the spaghetti on both plates? It was Japanese styled spaghetti and it was definitely unique. No sauce, but very flavorful. Desert was pretty good and they had a chocolate fountain where I dipped my banana and marshmallow into.
Afterwards we went back to Uniqlo to pick up my friend’s pants, but I forgot my receipt… we then strolled around Bic Camera which was nearby and found the refrigerator that my friend just got.
We went home afterwards and I went to Harajuku myself to do a little shopping while my friend was taking care of some errands. I met up with him later on along with another one of his floor mates at the Harajuku Softbank store to get a new phone, then we went to Shibuya to have dinner. We went to this all-you-can-eat restaurant again, but this time it was Indian curry. For only 1,050 yen, you can eat as much curry, as you wanted. It was pretty full when we went in.

I really liked the bread, and I was surprised that I was able to finish 3 plates of food LOL. Overall it was pretty good, but I wouldn’t have Indian food in Japan the next time.

27th day - authentic Japanese food?!?

Today we set out to go crazy shopping at the big Uniqlo in Kawasaki. It was their first anniversary and everything was 10% off. I bought 5 pairs of pants, 6 shirts, and a bunch of other stuff. I had to have my pants hemmed up, so I had to pick it up the next day or so.

We went to the food court to have lunch a quick lunch afterwards before we headed home to drop off the stuff. We went to a Japanese-styled steak place.

My friend ordered a Chicken steak,
and I ordered a beef hamburger steak.

Then we went home to drop off the big bags of stuff and we headed to the bookstore in Shinjuku. I bought a couple books about Japanese slang words.

We wandered around the area for a while deciding what we wanted to eat. We finally came across this Japanese restaurant which was upstairs. At first we were reluctant to try it because they didn’t seem to have an English menu, but we were hungry and tired and it was late. Most of the food they offered was sashimi, and as starters they gave us:
Some kind of jelly and a dish of scallops
and we ordered: Fresh Kiwi Sour – very interesting drink because you actually squeeze kiwi puree and add it to the drink which makes it taste very good Baked Hokkaido Crab in white cream sauce with Pasta – the cream sauce was light, and the crab was very good, too bad it wasn’t a larger order Raw Horse Sashimi – very interesting, have never had it before, and it was actually pretty common in Japan to eat horse meat, so I had to try it. It tasted ok, but had a weird flavor to it, not my favorite. I think I prefer raw beef, but this was still good. Small Assorted Sashimi – very fresh and good some kind of Fish Sushi – tasted ok as long as you took out that leaf thing between the fish and the rice. Medium Assorted Sashimi – yes, we were that hungry

Overall this may have been one of the best restaurants we have been to so far, considering the fact that the food is pretty authentic Japanese. Highly recommended. But don’t ask me where it is now. I forgot. It was up some building in Shinjuku…
