14th day - starting my food trip in HK

Today is my first day in HK. Finally have Internet without having to go downstairs. I was very tired from the flight, so by the time I got up it was time for lunch. We went to one of my favorite Won Ton restaurants nearby to have a quick lunch before my parent’s conference call. I forgot to take pictures as we were in a hurry and I was quite hungry.

At night I went to meet my parents in Causeway Bay so we could go to Mong Kok. It was raining and was very difficult to catch a taxi, so I took the Mini-bus across the street instead. It arrived very quickly and it might have taken just as long if I were to take a taxi.

We then took the MTR which is like BART to Mong Kok. We went to have dinner at the Langham Place Hotel which my mother was the designer of certain parts of it and was the consultant of the whole project. The hotel was connected to a shopping mall called the Langham Place where it houses hundreds of shops, cinemas, restaurants and the longest escalator in Hong Kong.

The name of the restaurant was “The Place” and they only serve a buffet. The design was pretty nice, and there was a decent selection of food.

They had these 3 smaller counters which served Thai and Indian food like curry.

The rounder table which served cold foods like salads.

The bar along the wall which served hot food like meats, noodles and soups.

This corner which served raw and cold items like sashimi, sushi, soba, oysters and snow crab legs.

And most importantly the counter which served deserts like the signature chocolate fountains.

The interior was nice and my mom told me it was her idea to add the pattern to the ceiling but having the spot lights were not her idea.

I pretty much finished all the food on the plates except the desert which the 3 of us split. For the first plate I had some Caesar salad, potato salad and some sushi.

For the second plate, I had some salmon and tuna sashimi, Shrimp salad, potato salad and some octopus

Then for the main dish I had Indian bread, shrimp chip, as assortment of chicken and duck, squid ink noodles, fried noodles, bitter melon and lamb.

Then there was this Chinese soup

As assortment of deserts including waffle, mango pudding, tiramisu, crème brulee, panna cotta and fruit tart.

Then there was the mango crepe

Finally there was the strawberry soufflé

And my iced lemon tea. HK style.

Then we took the MTR back to the HK side and took a taxi home.
