Woke up today sort of late… But it’s great not having anything to do. Nothing to worry about. No rush to do anything either. Took my sweet time after recovering from the lack of sleep the past few days.
I went to check my email and at about 2pm I decided that it was time to find something to eat. I walked down the streets with my umbrella and wandered around the small side streets. It was peaceful and quiet, just the way I like it. The suburbs in Japan are very nice, you can smell the unique scent of the place after the rain.
The short, pleasant and relaxing walk ended when I found this Japanese Curry Restaurant “CoCo Curry House”. It looked pretty interesting from the outside and I was hungry so I decided to give it a shot. I walked in and as always the hostess didn’t speak Japanese. She let me sit wherever and then pulled out a menu from the side of the table. She also gave me a menu with English, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, etc since I didn’t seem to understand Japanese. She also told me to hit that blue button on the plastic thing when I was ready to order.
The table was set nicely with soy sauce, toothpicks and pickled vegetables you’d normally find in curry restaurants placed in the middle. The menu was simple and as in many Japanese restaurants it has many colorful pictures. I looked and saw their special “Hand-made Tonkatsu Curry” and decided to order that. I hit the bell and the waitress quickly ran over. I was able to choose the amount of rice I wanted as well as the spiciness of the curry.
It didn’t take long before the food came and it smelled very good. The outside of the tonkatsu was very crispy and the meat was very tender. I was wondering at first how I was going to eat all this with just a spoon, but then the meat was so tender that I was able to easily cut it up with the spoon. I finished the whole dish, paid and headed off to my next destination.
There was a local mini-supermarket around. The first floor was a grocery store with mainly food and the second floor had some clothes and other stuff. I went to the second floor first to pick up some things like hangers and mouthwash. I took my sweet time going through ever isle gasping at the variety of things they have. In Japan, “There is a thing for everything” and it’s unbelievable what they have here. Since the place was only 2 minutes away from home, I decided to go home first to drop off the stuff before I start my 2nd round of killings!
On the streets of Japan, it is not unusual to see many vending machines which sell soft drinks, coffee and cigarettes. There was also a small Toyota dealership on the way and I checked out the cars. Many of them we have in America like the xB (or the bB here), then the xA, Yaris and Echo. Most of the cars here are very small.
Then I returned to the supermarket on the first floor. I was soooo excited because there were ALL the snacks, chocolates and chips that I LOVE. Many of you already know I can’t control myself when it comes to snacks. Filling up ONLY 1 basket REQUIRED A LOT of self control already LOL… Got all my Japanese drinks, Pocky, instant noodles, etc and I walked home with 2 very heavy bags.
