Second Day Part II

After my friend got off work, we headed out to Shibuya with his floor-mate to get a SIM card for my phone at SoftBank. The whole process did take a while but the staff were very courteous and patient. Their English was surprisingly good considering the fact that everyone else here in Japan can barely speak much at all… they were able to explain the whole complicated process so that we understood what was happening and what the different plans were.

We then wandered around the area to find some kind of restaurant. We ended up going to this restaurant called Elephant Café. It was pretty nicely decorated inside like a Thai restaurant and they served a small variety of South-East Asian food. The waitress started speaking to us in Japanese as usual and when she realized that we didn’t quite understand her, she switched over and spoke some near perfect English!! OMG! She’s like the first Japanese person here that I have met that speaks good English!
We asked her whether she came from America and she kind of backed off and seemed offended (though it didn’t show on her face) and explained that she went to a local English school.

We ordered Pho Beef Noodle

Nan Bread

And Phad Thai

The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. Maybe as good as it gets in Japan? I’ll find out later I guess… I think they were a little tired of eating Japanese food for now or at least seeing it. When we finished we just headed home.
